Why Luxury Dining Chairs Need Specialist Care

A Poltrona Frau Velluto or a Cassina 412 Cab is not built like a sofa. The hide is stretched tight over a narrow frame, so any crack, scuff, or colour-lift shows immediately. The leather is usually full-aniline or semi-aniline, which means pigmented patch jobs and cheap polishes destroy the surface in one application. We work the way the factory does , dye reduction, micro-pigment build, hand burnish , so the repair reads as patina, not paintwork.

and they should never see the same pigment.

Tyson, our lead artisan, keeps brand-specific pigment trees for Frau, Cassina, Fendi Casa, B&B Italia, Minotti, Natuzzi Iconic, and Chesterfield aniline - never one colour kit for every brand. He mixes each chair against the original hide under three light sources, so the match is invisible because the chemistry is correct.

Identify Hide & Finish

We confirm whether the chair is aniline, semi-aniline, pigmented, or coated, and check the original brand finish under daylight. This decides every product that touches the leather.

Deep Clean & Stain Lift

pH-neutral cleaning pass with brand-correct microfibre. Localised stain work for ghee, turmeric, ink, and oil. The hide is dried and conditioned with fat-liquor balm.

Pigment Build & Re-Grain

Colour is mixed on the spot and airbrushed in 3-5 feathered passes. Scuffed top edges are rebuilt with flexible filler and re-grained with a silicone mat.

Seal & Re-Pad

Two coats of breathable UV topcoat lock the repair. If the seat foam has gone soft, we replace the foam core and re-tension the webbing before reassembly.

You can do as few or as many as you want. Most clients start with the two captain chairs because they take the heaviest use, then add the rest in a second visit once they see the result. Pricing is per chair, not per set.
Almost never. Colin and baby wipes lift the topcoat and pigment but rarely reach the corium. We strip the residue, rebuild the pigment layer, and seal with a UV-stable topcoat. We also leave you a one-page cleaning protocol for your staff so it does not happen again.
Yes for fresh stains, almost always for set stains. Indian dining stains are our weekly bench work. We use the correct solvent for each hide finish , no Colin, no bleach, no household chemicals , and follow the lift with a localised recolour if any shadow remains.
Yes, in the same visit. We open the seat from the underside, replace the foam with density-matched HR foam, re-tension the webbing, and reseat the original cover. The chair sits firmer than it did when new. This is in the Atelier plan.
