Most Arflex sofas in India are 15 years old or more now, and the same few problems keep coming up. Here are the three we fix most often - on the Strips sofa, the Park, and the Lady chair - and what each one really takes to put right.

Strips: one seat sits lower than the rest

The Strips sofa is built from separate foam blocks, so the seats you use most sink faster than the rest. After 10-15 years one part of the sofa sits noticeably lower than the other - owners usually say "one end has dropped." The good news: it's only the foam, not the frame or springs, so we don't rebuild the whole sofa. We replace just the blocks that have gone soft.

Protocol We check each seat by hand to find the soft ones, fit new foam matched to the firmness of the rest, and re-zip your original cover. The sofa sits level again and the repair doesn't show.

Park: worn, pale leather on the armrest edge

The Park's armrests have a sharp front edge, and that edge takes the rubbing every time someone sits down. Over the years the leather there wears thin and pale while the rest of the sofa still looks new. Cheap fixes just paint over it, and that paint cracks within months. We re-dye the worn edge instead, so the colour soaks in and matches - it lasts and it doesn't crack.

Protocol We blend matching dye into the worn edge, fill any dips so the surface is smooth again, and skip the glossy topcoat that would crack. The colour runs continuous - you can't see where the worn part ended.

Lady chair: fragile, ageing leather

The Lady chair is a collector's piece, and on older ones the leather can't be replaced - so we never strip it back or start over. Instead we stabilise and feed the leather it already has: stop the surface powdering, ease the stiffness, and bring back some softness without changing its character. Tyson, our lead artisan, handles every Lady chair himself.

Protocol A gentle, leather-safe treatment firms up the fragile spots, and a deep balm softens the leather back. No stripping, no paint, no topcoat. You get a written before-and-after report.

Yes. The Strips sofa is built from separate foam blocks, so we replace only the ones that have sunk - not the whole sofa. We match the new foam to the firmness of the rest and re-zip your original cover, so it sits level again and looks unchanged.
What leather does Arflex use on Park and Saari?
Both use a soft, lightly protected leather that keeps a rich colour but fades over the years - most often along the front edge of the Park's armrests. We fix it by blending in matching dye that soaks in, with no glossy topcoat that could crack.
I have an old Lady chair - can you restore it without damaging the original leather?
Yes. We treat the Lady chair as a collector's piece and never strip or repaint it. We firm up the fragile spots with a leather-safe treatment and feed the leather to soften it back - no stripping, no paint. On older chairs the leather can't be replaced, so this gentle approach matters. Tyson signs off on every Lady chair himself, and you get a written before-and-after report.

How long does Arflex repair take?
Most jobs are done the same day, right at your home - sunken-seat foam swaps and leather work on the Park and Saari included. The Lady chair treatment needs about 4 hours before you can sit on it and a full day to settle. Nothing gets taken away to a workshop.
Do you service Arflex pieces across India?
Yes. Same-day home service in Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore, and we travel to Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and anywhere else in India. No city is left out.
My Arflex Park armrest leather is worn at the edge - repair or replace panel?
Repair, almost always. The Park's sharp armrest edge takes all the rubbing, so the leather there wears first. We blend in matching dye and fill the worn area so it looks whole again. We'd only replace the panel if the wear has gone right through the leather - we can tell you in five minutes on-site.

Paint sits on top of the leather and cracks within months. We use dye that soaks in instead, blended across the worn area so the colour matches and the leather still feels like leather. It lasts, and you can't see the repair.
