Confirm semi-aniline, full aniline or pigmented by pH test and visual grain check in five minutes.
Up close, a poor colour match always shows, and that is the fear with a sun-faded Hamilton panel or a worn Lawrence armrest edge. The two failures we see most are already mapped: Lawrence armrest edge wear and Hamilton topcoat fade under strong Indian UV. We hand-match colour across the Lawrence, Hamilton, Freeman and Yang so the repair disappears into the original leather. From ₹4,500 / seat - WhatsApp two photos for a written quote in 30 minutes.

Minotti ships semi-aniline on most pieces and full aniline on select Freeman and Yang. Three predictable failure modes dominate India installs. Below: each, with the technique it demands. See our leather glossary for terminology.
The Lawrence sofa (Rodolfo Dordoni, 2010) and its angular armrest is one of Dordoni's most recognisable design moves. It is also the point of maximum friction: wrists and forearms rest on the leading edge daily. Semi-aniline, by nature lightly protected, thins at the edge until the hide's backing shows. Owners sometimes try standard conditioner, which feeds the leather but cannot rebuild lost colour depth. Related: cracking and edge wear repair. Also common on the B&B Italia Charles for the same armrest geometry reason.
Hamilton entry configurations use pigmented leather - the most UV-exposed surface coating in Minotti's range. India's south-facing drawing rooms in summer push the topcoat into chalking: a dull, powdery surface that transfers faintly onto light cushions and clothing. The colour below the topcoat is usually intact. Owners reaching for household cleaning wipes often accelerate the problem. See our colour fading repair page for related cases.
The Collar modular system connects sections via internal brackets. When sections are repositioned - which owners do regularly in large living rooms - the leather at connector joints bears the flex. Stitching pulls at year four to seven; one broken stitch triggers a run. The semi-aniline hide is supple enough to mask early failure, so by the time owners notice, a two-inch run has often progressed to four inches.
Every Minotti piece we touch - model, leather grade, across India, age, failure mode - enters a leather-bound log. Two hundred and forty pieces across twelve years means we identify the grade before unpacking the kit.

"My Minotti Lawrence had armrest wear on both sides at nine years - the colour gone at the leading edge completely. They matched the original camel exactly, no topcoat applied, and the feel is identical to the day it arrived from Italy. Invisible at any distance."
"My Minotti Hamilton topcoat had gone chalky in our south-facing living room. I thought it was a dye problem. They explained it was the topcoat, stripped it, matched the colour on a spectrophotometer and did three recoat passes. Matched exactly, done same afternoon."
"The modular connector seam on my Minotti had opened about four inches. They inspected the internal bracket, re-stitched with matched thread, same day. I could not find the repair at close distance. The sectional looks completely original again."
On Minotti pigmented panels, recolor blends are tested against an undamaged reference panel before application - Delta-E target 2 or below. On aniline panels, penetrating dye is feather-blended under raking light. No guess work.
