Doorstep slots in Alipore, Ballygunge, Bhowanipore and New Alipore, usually within a couple of days. At near 77% humidity, leather never dries - it sours and grows mildew along the seams. We dry the hide and clear spores first, then deep-clean so the colour reads true.

Damp Kolkata leather carries living mould and a musty smell soaked deep into the foam, and a single generic cleaner only spreads it. Like a leather atelier, we dry the spores out, run an anti-fungal pass, then bring in low-mineral pH-tuned solvents, hide-matched conditioners and colour re-matched to the original - everything patch-tested first so the grain is restored, not blistered.

Leather sofa cleaning in Kolkata starts at ₹2,500 per seat, handled at your door in one 3-4 hour visit. We read the hide - aniline, semi-aniline or pigmented - dry-extract chronic-damp spores, draw the sour smell from the foam core, then recover monsoon-saturated finishes and seal a breathable anti-mildew topcoat. Covering Alipore, Ballygunge and Bhowanipore, the sofa stays in your living room throughout.

Leather here loses a year-long fight with moisture - spores bloom on the grain, a sour note lodges deep in the cushion foam, and saturated air keeps the finish from drying. Older flats in Ballygunge and Bhowanipore add damp plaster that feeds moisture straight into a sofa. A surface wipe buys you a week before the smell is back; we dry-extract, treat the foam core and seal a breathable anti-mildew finish in 3-4 hours.

One careful house call grew into a craft.
More than 1,200 homes across India have since handed us a hide to bring back - and we read each one on its own terms.
A four-stage method shaped by years of wet-climate hides - tuned to relentless damp, spore-laden grain and sour cushion foam. Open a card to walk through that stage.
We read the hide and chart where the damp has driven mould - grain surface, seams, back panels and the foam under every cushion. Past the 75% humidity mark spores spread well beyond what you can see.
Inspection & Mould Map
Aniline and semi-aniline hides drink cleaning agents straight into the grain, so a wrong bottle darkens them for good - and standing damp drives tannin migration that darkens them further. We confirm hide type and map every wet zone - surface, seams, back panels, cushion foam - before anything opens.
A wet wipe over dry spores grinds them in. We dry-extract first, then run a leather-safe anti-fungal pass across the hide and seams so the growth is killed - not smeared deeper into the grain.
Anti-Fungal Mould Pass
Damp above roughly 75% humidity feeds colonies that surface as white or green bloom. We dry-extract the spores, then a leather-safe anti-fungal pass clears the hide, seams and back panels before any wet work begins - so the colony cannot just regrow off the residue left behind.
A pH-matched cleaner lifts the soiling while a measured dry-and-deodorise pass pulls the sour smell out of the foam core to crease depth - not a sprayed perfume that fades by morning.
Deep Clean & Deodorise
A cleaner matched to leather's mild natural acidity lifts soiling and body oils without disturbing the finish. The sour note lives in the cushion foam, so we draw the trapped moisture and odour out of the core to depth rather than masking it across the top.
A hide-matched conditioner feeds the leather back into balance, then a breathable anti-mildew topcoat goes on over a fully dried hide to slow regrowth. Sofa ready to use within 3-4 hours.
Condition & Seal
A hide-matched conditioner restores the fat-liquor that keeps the grain supple. Sealing wet over dry spores only grinds them back in, so we seal a breathable anti-mildew topcoat strictly over a dried hide - which is why the damp is slower to bring mould back. Sofa ready to use within 3-4 hours of completion.
Leather here fails in three patterns, all driven by relentless moisture. One: chronic-damp mould. Humidity near 77% the whole year colonises the grain and lodges a persistent sour note deep in the foam and seams. Two: monsoon saturation. Air at 83-88% through July keeps the hide from ever drying, leaving the finish tacky and lifted. Three: heritage damp walls. Old-building plaster in Alipore and Ballygunge transfers moisture into sofas pressed against it, feeding back-panel mould. On inspection we tell you which of the three you are actually fighting.
"Our brown Natuzzi 3-seater had green mould running down the seams and a sour smell that no airing ever shifted. They dry-extracted the spores and genuinely drew the smell out of the cushion foam - not a quick spray over the top. A fortnight on, it still reads clean."
"After the monsoon our tan aniline L-sofa stayed tacky for weeks and the finish had gone cloudy. They brought it down dry in stages and re-sealed the topcoat. It finally feels dry again and the surface is even - and they were straight with us about what could and couldn't be saved."
"Our old flat has damp walls and the back of the black pigmented sofa kept sprouting white bloom. They traced it to the plaster at a glance, treated the back panels and told us to leave a gap off the wall. No more smell, no more bloom since."
Trained leather specialists, not general upholstery hands. Each artisan reads your hide, dry-extracts and treats the spores, deodorises the foam core and conditions by hand - and it is the same crew that turns up at every doorstep visit.
What it costs, how long a visit runs, and which damp damage we can pull back versus what is past saving.
